This past Saturday I went to the Extreme Bar and Grill on 535 Tchoupitoulas Street in New Orleans to meet a friend who I went to school with twenty-eight years ago who’d flown in from Orlando. Another friend who works with me in Bangkok joined. We watched the LSU vs. Georgia game, had a few beers and some nachos and chicken wings shared between the three of us. Our interaction with the staff was pretty well normal and we kept to ourselves. After the game was over I returned to my hotel for the evening.

This morning before checking out of my hotel room I was going through my receipts and separating the business chits from the personal when I found a receipt from the Extreme Sports Bar and Grill. Clearly on the bill the bar tender labeled me as ‘Fat Fuck’, which is what was on the bill print out. To say the least it was a slap in the face. Maybe it wasn’t meant personally but nonetheless it was just wrong.

By no stretch of the imagination am I a thin guy but still I’m a customer and a decent person. I came into the establishment with good intentions and brought two more people with me so we could have a visit and watch a game. I could have chosen other places but this one looked good on Foursquare so I told the others to meet me there. We three spent time and money in the place in good spirits. I feel knocked back in a hard way by such an insulting treatment behind my back.

I would like to have had time to chase down the owner of the bar but I was in a program today and leave New Orleans early tomorrow morning. I will, however, make sure that others will know what the bar tenders think of them.
